🎉 TEDx Tinley Park Meet & Greet Recap

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, community members, business leaders, TEDx Tinley Park speakers, volunteers, and supporters gathered at the Tinley Park VFW for an evening designed to introduce the community to TEDx Tinley Park and build excitement for the inaugural event coming Sunday, October 4, at Tinley Park High School.  From the moment guests arrived, conversations flowed easily – people connected, shared ideas, and expressed genuine curiosity about what TEDx Tinley Park will bring to the community.  The enthusiasm for Tinley Park’s first-ever TEDx event was clear throughout the room.

The Meet & Greet offered attendees an informal preview of what TEDx is all about while creating real opportunities to connect with its organizers and learn more about the upcoming event – including speakers, tickets, volunteer opportunities, sponsorships, and other ways to get involved.  The evening blended information with interactive entertainment, creating exactly the kind of energy the TEDx Tinley Park team had hoped for.

✦     “Many ideas grow better when transplanted into another mind than the one where they sprang up” – Oliver Wendell Holmes     ✦

Committee member and TEDx Tinley Park coach Garrett Gray, along with his improv group Main Stage Productions, engaged the audience through improvisational activities designed to get people talking, collaborating, and laughing together.  Meanwhile, Renee Oswald led attendees through a captivating interactive relaxation and hypnotism experience that drew both laughter and amazement from the crowd.  Together, the two experiences set the tone for exactly what TEDx Tinley Park promises to deliver on October 4: bold ideas, genuine connection, and an unforgettable day.

Committee members noted that one of the evening’s most important goals was to create enthusiasm for TEDx Tinley Park – and by all accounts, that goal was achieved.  Attendee feedback was overwhelmingly positive.  One guest described the gathering as “very rousing” and “very exciting,” adding that they were thrilled to see an event like TEDx taking place right here in Tinley Park.  The event also provided the organizing committee with valuable lessons as preparations continue for October, from audio/visual and program-flow refinements to opportunities to strengthen networking, sponsor engagement, and overall attendee experience.  Those observations are already being incorporated into plans for the main event.
